Getting back on track:

After taking a three week break for the holidays, and the long weekend due to M.L.K Day it has been hard to get back into the groove of school. I can relate to students returning to the classroom after summer vacation. My creative mind, actually my mind is general is moving at the speed of a tortoise. Luckily today was the first day back in the classroom, and motivation came in the form of a very energetic second grade classroom. Lucky Me!

  1. I can relate to kids coming back from vacation too! It's hard to get back into things with a 3 day weekend! I also like your metaphor about the tortoise! My mind was kind of slow today as well!

  2. Isn't that so true. Long breaks are wonderful for our brains and terrible for our routines. Second graders have that energetic influence on us don't they, motivation for sure.

  3. In the northeast we have had a lot of starts and stops with the weather. I loved having the long weekend and was geared up to start today, but we had an early dismissal and most likely a delay tomorrow. Looking forward to wrapping my brain around a five day work week.

  4. Looks like we may have another bout of winter tonight and tomorrow. With sickness, snow storms and ice storms hitting here in the northeast, it's hard to stay on track - I can't remember what day it is most of the time now. When you miss doing something on a particular day, they all start running in together! Getting back to routine is hard to do, but kind of nice when it happens.

  5. I love your phrase, "like a tortoise." That is just how the kids acted when they came back!

  6. Oh Heather, I totally feel you on this! I am already beyond ready for spring break! Being with kindergarteners today did definitely make me enjoy this term a million times more, though!

  7. Trading first graders for sixth graders was a shock for me today! They will definitely keep me on my toes. I hope you have fun with the second graders! :)
